How to mount direct storage in MS Windows?
- If you have direct storage for your VPS already ordered, connect to the VPS via the remote screen.
-
In the "Server manager" window, which by default is displayed shortly after the start of MS Windows, wait for the last items in the menu: "File and Storage Service" to be displayed and click on it.
-
Now click on "Disks" in the menu. You will see an overview of all VPS discs. Select an entry that matches the size of your direct storage. And right-click on it to display the context menu. If you have storage as in our example offline, there will be only one active item to select "Bring Online". Confirm your selection.
-
Once the storage is online, right-click the context menu again and select "New Volume ...".
-
A new window with a setup wizard opens. In principle, if you do not require any specific settings, then all the following steps are enough to click. The wizard starts in "Server and Disk", where a confirmation window will pop up and confirm with "OK".
-
To use the full capacity of the disc, leave the default setting. Continue through the "Next" button.
-
Here you can specify your preferred file system for your storage. NTFS is the default. Continue through the "Next" button.
-
Complete the setting using the "Create" button.
-
Storage is ready and mounted as an additional drive on F: drive to the VPS.
