What is VPS and what is it used for?

VPS is a virtual private server, designed eg. for hosting websites (e-commerce, digital content, media, etc.) or web applications (portals, extranet, teamwork solutions, wiki, CRM software, etc.). Unlike web hosting, data is isolated on one virtual machine with 100% dedicated computing resources.

Because VPS combines reliability with high performance dedicated environments, VPS is the ideal compromise between web hosting and physical servers. The main advantages of VPS include a wide range of administration options and the absence of worries associated with managing physical hardware.
